Still plodding on… closer to the end than to the beginning now. I’m on fire!
A very tiny, flickering and smoking flame of a fire… 😉
Yes, I’m still alive and at it (it = drawing). The only problem being that I’ve been tied up drawing this huge thing for my sister (it was supposed to be a Christmas/birthday present… oh well…). Since it’s about 15 times bigger than my usual stuff, it takes accordingly more time. But I’m slowly starting to get there. Now for the huge natural feature – The Colourful Tree! Hope you’ll all still be here when I do my huge comeback!
Originally this was supposed to be another drawing from Rome (Villa Borghese) – there is actually a little house not unlike this one there. But right after I started it occurred to me that it’s a bit… boring. I added the trees and the night – then on a whim I put in the little people and the net-like thing they’re holding. And now… I have no idea what this picture is about!
But I do know I actually like it more when scanned and pasted in here than in the original. Huh. Strange…
That roundish thing in the top left corner is a mezzanine.
I’ve realised I’ll need to try hard with new pictures for this blog in July. I’m running out of stock and have no time to work on new ones due to an approaching deadline for a certain job. But luckily after July is over, I should get my life back (at least temporarily!) – possibly even be able to hang out in bars such as the one above! Wish me luck.
A drawing from a very hip place called “Charlotte”. It’s not a bar, or a cafe, or even a restaurant – it’s a BRASSERIE, the first one in Warsaw. It was also the first place where you have a big communal table, so strangers can sit next to each other. Now it’s a hang-out for hipsters and fashionable people who use too many hair products, or for anyone who fancies a glass of champagne with their breakfast (yes, there’s a set like that!).
The food’s really good, though.
(Ha! Just figured out where to find the “Full Align” option! Up till now I could only see the “Align Left/Right” and it was annoying the hell out of me! I like my posts well aligned.)
Another Mumford & Sons inspiration – this time it’s from the song “Below My Feet”. The chorus goes: Keep the earth below my feet/For all I sweat my blood runs weak/Let me learn from where I have been/Keep my eyes to serve, my hands to learn.
Having just returned from a 14-month-long stint away from home, I understand the sentiment… Then again, maybe not quite, since I definitely do want to travel more!
The pinkish colour is actually mixed nail polish. There was a strange man in one bar in Taipei, who was always there, always giving out some samples of random things (cosmetics for ladies and – apparently – leaflets with ladies for gentlemen!), and one day he insisted that I take about 4 kinds of the polish. I used some on my toenails (I’m one of those girls that absolutely can’t keep nail polish on their fingernails – I mean, it goes off after one dish washing!). It looked nice, but now they’ve gone all yellow, so I reckon there’s some powerful chemistry going on in there – all in all, the only thing I can use it for is painting, and it was actually fun. I felt very… ahem… creative.
One sad piece of news: I didn’t get the tickets for the Mumford & Sons gig in March! They were all long since sold out! Can you imagine?!
I’m a very sad puppy now indeed…
