Argh. I kept forgetting to scan the two new ones at work (you can’t get out of there fast enough, can you!), so finally gave up and just took a photo (which explains the tiny size and bad quality!). The girl is my sister, only she’s much prettier in real life! I kind of missed doing random doodles, so that’s where the background came from.
This is an idea inspired by my friend’s music album, which is called “About Time”. I like the idea, but I don’t like the way it came out at all, sadly. I think it would look really cool if I had any graphic skills and could make the same image out of actual photos of a guitar and an hourglass. Would work so much better here!
Well, that’s been a long break. Lot’s of things going on, work and other stuff, and most of the time there seriously was no opportunity (or energy) to draw anything. Hopefully that’s over now. And presenting to you today: another one from the Camelot Cafe in Cracow, a lovely place with great food. Do give it a try if you go there!
Aaaah. FINALLY! This son of a mother took me over 3 months (granted, would’ve been much quicker if I could spend more than 10 minutes a day on it). A very belated Christmas/birthday present. Too bad the photo doesn’t do it justice: it’s about 100×100 cm, so a lot of details got lost. Also, it was just difficult to get it in a position where it would be evenly illuminated, plus you can still see the shadows where the paper creased because of the wash… Well, never mind. It is what it is. I’m not pleased with the background at all, but I really quite like the tree and the buildings. Now my only problem is: what to do with it if my sister doesn’t like it? Well? Any buyers?
In any case, all it means is that I will now have more time to go back to my little, reasonably sized drawings. Hurray.
The Longroom in London. Weird because it’s surrounded by office buildings, so it seems to cater mostly to the City crowd, but actually is quite nice and serves a nice array of microbrews, yay. Plus a good friend of mine works there, so there you have it. It also looks much more sleek in reality than here, but I only had a moment for a sketch and had to fill in the details, so it resembles a logger’s hut… By the way, spellcheck just tried to correct ‘microbrews’. It went for microbes.
I think it’ll be some time before I can post something new as I’ll be trying to draw something really big for my sister by way of a birthday/Christmas present. It will be time-consuming, and time is what I don’t have right now <fatalistic sigh>
This little castle – the Ujazdowski Castle – contains the Warsaw Modern Art Centre (CSW or Centrum Sztuki Współczesnej in the beautiful Polish tongue). Hmm, what can I say about it… I’ve never seen an exhibition that I actually enjoyed there (but I may have slightly parochial taste). And… they have a good restaurant but the service is glacially slow… And, erm… the view from the balcony is really nice. And the little park below is where I once cut an apple tart with a sword. Seriously.
